FëBLux was founded on November 24th, 2009, by five librarians in Luxembourg-City. The association got free advice at the national umbrella foundation Fondation de Luxembourg, the ALA – American Library Association (International Office), the ILAF – Iowa Library Association Foundation, the Luxembourgish Librarians‘, Archivists‘ and Documentalists‘ Association, ALBAD, and the Luxembourgish Association of Public Libraries, ULBP (Union Luxembourgeoise des Bibliothèques Publiques).
The start capital was 20 Euro.

FëBLux can be considered as a national friends of libraries organisation, technically an association, which main mission is to gather a minimum asset for the creation of a national library endowment, but limited to one library type: public libraries.
FëBLux is member of the ULBP (Union Luxembourgeoise des Bibliothèques Publiques – www.ulbp.lu) since January 1st, 2013.
